Here you see one rack in detail. The "arm" at the right of the picture rotates up and around. It comes to rest against that rubberized stop you see at the lower right. The cross piece you see in the middle of the slot facing the camera is actually two soft rubber tubes. It seems that one should push the bike's wheel into the slot between those tubes.
