Round Tourmaline

Something odd happened to this simple tourmaline pink bead. You may or may not be able to see at the left side a little brownish smoky stain on the glass. It really is there. It's almost like a reduction effect. I don't know whether I cooked the glass too long or whether something happened in the kiln.
