This vaguely biological looking image is a closeup of a test piece fired on the once-used graphite shelf. Note the gray stain that can be seen through the glass -- we're looking at the backside through the topside. You can see the sanding scars in the graphite. This stain corresponds to the roughly rectangular area of the shelf that was "saved" in the first firing by the blue test piece.
