This is the biggest marble I have made so far. It started with a clear core, then filigrana wrapped around that. Then I kept encasing and encasing it, trying to make it big enough to fit my large wooden marble mold. This took a long time! Amazingly, there is less scum and crud than I would expect from such a lot of fooling around with clear Moretti. The ripple effect you see in the glass is inside, not on the surface! The surface is actually pretty good. What makes this marble a second? The interior rippling, messy poles (I had no idea what to do with the ends of the filigrana), and too many bubbles. I am fond of it anyway, and don't plan to smash it. |
