Here is a close-up of the tongue connection. The tongue is lying on the chainstay bridge. Underneath the bridge is a solid aluminium block (shaped like a truncated triangle). Obviously the taper of the truncated triangle faces forward :-) This alloy block is coated with a thin layer of what feels like black rubber, presumably for grip. Weirdly enough, though a washer was provided for the top, no washer was provided for the bottom of this assembly.
