In this rear view peering under the deck, we look forward at the rear wheel. At the bottom of the picture you can see how the U-frames are inserted into the upright hollow "pillars". I bet water will get in there. Rust is probably a serious problem for this frame with all its openings.

You can see the rear reflectors, and the fairly tight clearance between the wheel and the inside fabric wall of the slings. The slings are kept very taut to prevent any interference here, by means of webbing straps at the lower corners. You can see the rear pair of straps at the bottom of the picture.
