This marble started out black and white (and didn't come out round). When I reworked it, in a fit of annoyance at the way the white wasn't blending in smoothly with the black where the two glasses met, I laid down some stripes of red and blue stringer, alternating, from pole to pole.

Then I raked each hemisphere in a spiral from the equator to the pole. The resulting polar pattern was more interesting than I deserved, since I was only playing around. Adding the stringer did not fix the surface quality problem; the only thing that would make this marble smooth, I fear, is complete encasement.
