This was a plain black marble that didn't come out round. I had a second try at it and got bored with its plainness, so on a whim I grabbed some bright red and started applying random polka dots. The resulting marble, despite some pontil marks and some irregular dots (there was no system for applying them, just random dabbing) is nicer than I expected. Red and black seem to blend in very well with one another, whereas white seems to fight with every other colour. Unfortunately I like white glass so this is rather difficult for me to deal with. Anyway, red and black are a good safe partnership on a marble surface. Incidentally, some very nice clean crescent moons can be made simply by overlaying a black polka dot, slightly offset, on a red one. A quick polish and you'll never know how many layers there were. |
