Moretti gray (the putty gray) is not a friendly colour. As you can see here, it smoked and pitted, whereas the pastel purple held up much better. Once again I could not get smoothness on my raking lines or between thin stripes of white and other colours.

I may yet throw this one back in the cooker and try again. The fundamental design (solid poles, and an equatorial band of thin stripes with some kind of raking) I find rather appealing.
