This tiny marble was made with a two rod gather, using two of the ugliest moretti opaque glasses: a nasty chartreuse and a sort of institutional mint green (think 1950's hospital walls). However, when kneaded thoroughly they made a pleasing colour similar to some antique chinese pottery glazes. I laid down stripes of blue avventurina (sparkly) from pole to pole and then twisted the whole gather, as you see. The poles are nasty (puntying on and off was still very new to me) and the whole marble is not very round. But its porcelain-like body and the blue sparkly stripes are nice, and it's a design I'd like to try again now that I know a little more. I'd make it bigger next time though -- small marbles are hard to deal with. |
