Here my raking technique has improved a little, but you can see clearly how the black veins of glass are standing proud of the wider white veins. I have had this problem of surface ridging over and over again with white glass; eventually I may just have to give up -- but Marble Master Drew Fritts says white can be tamed, so I'll keep trying a while yet.

The lesson for the fellow newbie is to avoid white glass at first, because you'll never know whether your moves are all wrong or whether it's just the white glass being difficult. I should take my own advice :-) but I like white glass . . .
