Here you see one of my super-cheapo plastic test tube racks and the contents of the marble jar, getting ready for the photo session. All the test tubes are out of the rack except one, conveniently located at dead-centre.
The transparent worm is a sort of mascot, the result of a very unsuccessful experiment with some temperamental dichro. It has no name except "Worm." Its body is prettier than the camera shows, containing a fine ghostly spiral of purple dichro. The "head" is cracked in 2 places, but it was annealed and it holds together (so far).
