Here's the high-tech marble photo studio -- stand a marble on the open end of the plastic test tube, against the curved sheet of paper for a horizonless background. Low-rent photography. My experiments with using the overhead incandescent lamp for backlighting and shadow reduction were a mixed bag; I often ended up with way too much yellow light (shoulda done a white balance exposure). But the cheap stand has worked pretty well.
